Cindy’s artistic recognition is centered in her passion and work around creativity and promoting local artists. A friend identified her artistic talent in the world of “ideas” and coined the phrase "ideator". Since Cindy was a child she was always visualizing business ideas and designing imaginary concepts. Finally, in 2007 she realized her dream when she and her friend, Paige Perkins opened Art n Soul on 101—an Encinitas community-based artisans gallery featuring a myriad of local artists. The mission was to promote unique, original art and donate a portion of the proceeds to local charities. The idea for Art Lounge on 101 emerged from many, many customers requesting art classes.

An ah-ha moment occurred when Nancy and Cindy magically met around the corner from what is now Art Lounge on 101. Nancy, an amazing artist and graphic designer along with Cindy, a passionate gallery owner embraced the idea of opening a cool-vibe Encinitas art teaching studio. The rest is history!!! They blended their love of art, creating, teaching and community!!! So, as this “spot" was the origin of magic between Cindy and Nancy they promise the ‘magic" of art and creativity will be felt by all at Art Lounge on 101.

Nancy’s approach to art flows naturally out of her long career in graphic design and illustration. Balanced color and expressive patterns are precisely arranged in design, but in her art these are set free. Nancy’s most evocative compositions to date are available for public viewing and sale at The Chopra Center, the spiritual home of Deepak Chopra, at Omni Resorts La Costa. Her artwork also hangs in private collections all over North America and her product line, which focuses on “spiritually centered” stationary products can be found is stores across the USA and on-line at her Etsy shop.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Nancy’s design career flourished for six years in New York City before she made her home in Encinitas, California in 1990. She is a graduate of Dawson College and studied fine arts at Concordia University in Montreal. She also studied at the School of Visual Arts in Tangier, Morocco and in New York City. Her ongoing creative studies in printmaking, mixed media, art journaling and bookarts, regularly take her across the western United States. She is the editor of the San Diego Book Arts newsletter, “End Papers,” and the chair of the Publications Committee. Nancy was selected as one of nine artists for the “Convergence” art residency in Tetouan, Morocco in 2016.
