This workshop is for you if you are a beginner, and/or if you are experienced but want to practice and advance your “andamento” (visual flow and direction of your piece). We will using adhesive and will be grouting in this workshop. The available tesserae will be everything from handmade ceramic tile and ceramic objects made by me, glass marbles, and fun found objects.
All levels are welcome in the same workshop, we all learn from one another! All supplies will be provided, just bring your smile and willingness to create. You are welcome to bring any items you’d like to incorporate into your piece.
As a self taught ceramicist and mosaic artist, Diane loves creating bright functional pieces. Her pieces have a bit of an assemblage/steampunk/found art feeling to them. She have fun laying out her designs and thinking about the joy it will bring some lucky person. Each step is done with love and gratitude for the opportunity to create a beautiful object; from the tiles which she rolls out on her slab machine, then designs and glazes, to the meticulous snipping of each piece, right down to the addition of objects placed after grouting.
Diane has had a passion to create for as long as she can remember. During her college years, her respite from the rigors of her classes was to take an art course each semester. Once she found ceramics, she was hooked! She has a MA in special education and 15 years in the classroom making creative adaptations for her students and running workshops to share these ideas with other teachers.
